Past Tense

The past tense describes actions that happened in the past.

Regular Verbs:

Add -ed to the base form: work → worked, play → played

Irregular Verbs:

• go → went
• eat → ate
• see → saw
• come → came

Past Tense in Practice

Regular Past Tense Formation:

• Most verbs: add -ed (walk → walked, talk → talked)
• Verbs ending in -e: add -d (like → liked, live → lived)
• Verbs ending in consonant + y: change y to i, add -ed (study → studied)

Yesterday's Schedule:
I woke up at 7:00 AM. I had breakfast and went to work. At lunch, I met my friend and we ate at a nice restaurant. In the evening, I watched a movie and went to bed early.

Present Tense

The present tense is used to describe actions happening now or general truths.

Structure:

Subject + Verb (+ s/es for third person singular)

Examples:

• I work
• You work
• He/She works
• We work
• They work
